Exploring Self-Employment Workshops
The Exploring Self-Employment Workshops are designed to give You an understanding of entrepreneurship and self-employment to support Your business idea or dream of being Your own boss.
These free workshops are fully funded by the Department of Education, Skills and Employment and cover key topics to give You an appreciation of how to start Your own business and whether entrepreneurship is a viable career path for You.
On completion of the workshop, if You would like to start Your own business, we can support eligible business owners through the new Self-Employment Assistance Program.
These workshops include 25 hours across key topics delivered over one or two weeks, and we have availability for courses starting each month! You can register easily online by clicking on ‘Register Now’ below and we will be back in touch with the next available workshop date.

Whether You need further skills development
What support pathways are available
How to generate and validate an idea for a business
What the key considerations are for setting up Your business for success
What the key considerations are for running a successful business
Eligibility
To attend the
Exploring Self-Employment Workshop, You must be:
At least 15 years of age to attend Exploring Self-Employment workshop
Not already be working and/or studying for more than 25 hours per week
Not be prohibited by law from working in Australia
Not be an overseas visitor on a working holiday visa or an overseas student studying in Australia
Not be an undischarged bankrupt.
If You are already self-employed or have a business idea, Your local Self-Employment Assistance Provider will work with You to assess if Your business or business idea is eligible.
