Self-Employment Assistance Program

The Self-Employment Assistance Program is funded by the Australian Federal Government and is aimed at assisting current and aspiring business owners, providing a range of support services to meet their needs of setting up or running a successful small business. 


The Self‑Employment Assistance Program replaces the New Business Assistance with NEIS program as of 1 July 2022.


The program’s flexibility allows You, if eligible, to choose the support that best fits Your needs to start or run a successful small business.

Please note that Transcend are only contracted to provide support to participants in the South Eastern Melbourne and Peninsula region.

Eligibility

To engage in the Self-Employment Assistance Program, You must:

be at least 15 years of age (noting that a person must be 18 years of age to access Small Business Coaching) 

be an Australia citizen, or the holder of a permanent visa, or a nominated Visa Holder (including a New Zealand Special Category Visa, Temporary Protection Visa Holder and a Safe Haven Visa Holder)

not be an undischarged bankrupt

meet any additional criteria specific to the chosen Service(s).

If You are already self-employed or have a business idea, Transcend Services will work with You to assess if Your business or business idea is eligible.

What Support Is Available?

Self-Employment Assistance Program can help You start and run a small business by helping You to: 

Learn about and consider being self-employed 

Decide on a business idea and check if it will work 

Develop a business plan 

Get Your business up and running, or 

Adjust Your existing business to keep it viable.
